Everything worked spot-on except my registered copy was now not a registered copy as I was using it (this pass code) somewhere else. I tried this already, Thought I would increase the speed and spec using my old but new larger 3TB hard drive into an improved high speed motherboard and chip, which also meant new cd/dvd drives(due to the new board not accepting the old connectors, increasingthe amount I wanted to pay for the upgrade). Well, it would be a custom built PC with the specifications I need, and I have the choice between buying it with a blank HDD installed or none at all. So, if I can seamlessly transfer the old hard drive into the new machine I would prefer to do that, butif I have to reinstall and/or get a new product key I may as well buy a SSD.I just need to know whether the machine will work if I connect my existing HDD to the new components, and if not, whether I will need a new product key to install my copy of Windows 8.
