Office for Mac that comes with an Office 365 subscription is updated on a regular basis to provide new features, security updates, and non-security updates. The following information is primarily intended for IT professionals that are deploying Office for Mac to the users in their organizations.

Sep 24, 2018 Commercial volume-licensed (trusted) customers can access Office 2019 starting today. Office 2019 is now available for consumer and commercial customers. For consumer customers in China, India, and Japan, Office 2019 suites will be available in the next few months. Certain features are only available in the Mac or Windows versions of Office 2019. Sep 24, 2018 Microsoft on Monday released Office 2019, its 'perpetual-license' product for both Windows 10 and the Mac platform. Starting with the 16.17 release in September 2018, this information also applies to Office 2019 for Mac, which is a version of Office for Mac that’s available as a one-time purchase from a retail store or through a volume licensing agreement.
The update history information for version 16.16 and earlier also applies to Office 2016 for Mac, which is also a version of Office for Mac that’s available as a one-time purchase. Older versions up to and including 16.16 can be activated with an Office 2016 for Mac volume license. You can’t activate version 16.17 or later with an Office 2016 for Mac volume license. Microsoft word wont activate on mac. Open any Office app, like Microsoft Word and in the What's New box that opens, select Get Started. On the Sign in to activate Office screen, select Sign in. Note: If you weren't prompted to sign in, open a blank file and go to File New from template Sign in. Mar 19, 2020 Word for Macbook won't activate I purchased a Office 365 personal subscription on Mac that goes through iTunes, but it won't activate when I try to sign in. It keeps telling me that it's unable to associate my purchase: Your purchase was successful but we were unable to associate it with yourMicrosoft account. Dec 26, 2017 I've been trying to activate Word for Mac but it rejects my Apple ID every time. If you have an Office 365 subscription, you activate by putting in your Microsoft ID (nothing to do with Apple). For problems with MS products, it is best to use their own forums, e.g. Results in Office - Microsoft. To fix this issue, update your Mac's name to remove the invalid characters: In the top menu bar, select the Apple icon System Preferences Sharing (third row.) In the Computer Name text box, update your Mac's name and then close the window. Restart your Mac and then activate Office.
