As of September 25, 2017, macOS 10.13 High Sierra is publicly available for all Mac users to install. Office 2016 for Mac is fully supported on High Sierra. For the best experience, we recommend you update Office to version 15.38 or later.

But in the case of Office for Mac, Apple customers need to choose the 2016 version, as the previous 2011 edition would no longer be supported, hence won’t work on High Sierra. Updated Office. 2018-1-9 I'm running Microsoft Office for Mac 2106 using an Office 365 subscription on my Mac with High Sierra with no issues.
